Spotlight on... Rhaeto-romance

University studies in Rhaeto-romance - that is only possible in Fribourg and Zurich. The contents of the Bachelor's programme are linguistics and language history; linguistic minorities and sociolinguistics; literature, language didactics and language acquisition. In Fribourg the main focus lies on linguistics and sociolinguistics, but a literature seminar is also offered in each semester. One part of the study course is absolved in the multilingual research and foreign language didactics programmes. Students thus gain a good foundation for work in Rhaeto-romance institutions and schools, as well as for further language studies or in the area of multilingualism.
The programme is directed mainly at students whose mother tongue is Rhaeto-romance. Some courses are held in German or French, so that also those who speak other languages can attend parts of the Rhaeto-romance study programme and Rhaeto-romance language courses.
